Sharon Pfeifer
Sharon Pfeifer received her doctorate in population ecology from the U ofColorado and did her postdoctoral work with the SmithsonianInstitution. She has taught ecology, conservation biology, and othernatural sciences for the University of Minnesota, Associated Colleges ofthe Midwest, Normandale College, and the University of Pittsburgh'sSemester at Sea program.

She is a two-time recipient of the American Association of the Advancementof Sciences' Diplomacy fellowship, and worked for the United States Agencyfor International Development in Washington, DC and abroad oninternational natural resource conservation issues. Her internationalwork throughout Africa, Asia, and the Middle East focused on biodiversityconservation and project implementation.

Sharon currently works for the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources as Regional Planner for the 16-county Central Region. She led the Greenways and Natural Areas Collaborative that created the Metro Greenways Program. Sharon, working as the team leader, and other Central DNR staff recently completed the development of a regional ecological assessment to identify significant terrestrial and wetlands areas in the 7-county Metro region.
