Program Information The University of Minnesota's Department of Landscape Architecture, located in the College of Design [CDes], offers preprofessional and accredited professional degrees in landscape architecture. The Department provides comprehensive training in ecology, aesthetics, and technical skills. It offers students the opportunity to study landscape architecture within the state's diverse ecological and cultural communities. Teaching faculty use nationally-recognized expertise in design, ecology, history and regional landscape planning, a deep knowledge of natural and cultural resources, and long-standing experience in local and regional landscape initiatives to cultivate in students a precise knowledge and appreciation of place, and the ability to create original and artful design responses that are firmly grounded in an ecological context. Departmental faculty and/or practicing landscape architects teach all courses using real sites and study areas throughout Minnesota. University and community resources throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area are integrated into the curriculum to strengthen students' skills and broaden their exposure to contemporary urban, suburban and regional landscape issues. The Department offers four degree tracks. Each program offers courses in a sequence designed to build landscape architecture knowledge and skills for either licensure or advanced study: |
